Tales From The Teen: I Am Phantom

I am a man who doesn’t exist. I am a thief, a killer, and a non-existent ghost. This is the life I live because I am the Phantom.

“This is an extra cold Christmas Eve,” I whispered as the smoky mist escaped my lips. I have long since denied my true name and have simply gone by Phantom for several years. I am a gun for hire with a power control electrical currents by blah, blah, blah, all I care about is that I have it and want it gone. This happened when a mysterious game master type man came up to me and asked, “Are you happy with your reality?” and with a simple “no,” by me, I became like this.

Now, after many years, if I saw that man again, I would kill him.

I strolled down the road when I saw the sight, I saw him. The snow crunched under my feet as I tried to catch him, and when I grabbed his collar, I dragged him into a nearby alleyway.

“Why did you do this to me?” I screamed as I banged his entire body against the wall. “It has been a while, Phantom,” he said that so calmly it just made me madder.

“When and if you find the real me, I will tell you.”

He gave me a crooked smile as his body slowly dissipated back to black mist. “Stop!” I screamed as I sent a jolt as strong as lightning to him. All that did was make him disappear faster. My breathing was heavy as I realized he had a duplication power.

I composed myself, dusted the snow off my shoulders and walked out of the alleyway. As I walked, I vowed to find him, get my answer, and then kill him.

I am the non-existent ghost that haunts the nightmares of anyone who gets in my way. I’m a thief, a killer, and a non-existent ghost. This is the life I live because I am Phantom.

** My son, “The Teen,” has always had a love of books and creative writing. Starting to write at a very young age,  I have had the pleasure of watching him as he has developed his writing and his own style through the years. Written for a sophomore English class in 2013, I have changed nothing in his story. His teacher commented on his paper … “Awesome hook” for his intro. “Be careful what you wish for.” when he vows to kill the man that did this to him. “Nice closing too.” And a general comment, “You have a talent for creative writing.”

About nonnymoose2014

I have recently retired from the healthcare field, nursing. As I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, this seemed like the perfect time to try my hand at blogging again. In the past, my success (or lack thereof) I believe hinged on my fear of revealing too much about myself. I have a desire to “put it all out there” BUT I want to do it on my own terms … anonymously! Thus came Nonny Moose.
