Weight Loss Gadgets & Gizmos

I must admit that I have been coveting two new gadgets & gizmos that are being publicized to aide in getting fit … the body bug and the skechers shape ups! Unfortunately, you can’t be a bum (my fun, lighthearted term for referring to myself as being unemplyed) and buy all these expensive, high tech gadgets! So, you can only imagine my delight when my future daughter in law told me about the cheaper alternatives at Wal-Mart!

The Danskin Woman’s Spring Toning Shoes (Personal Trainers) $25

Yes!! Those are my actual shoes! Pink! Love them!

I normally wear a 6 1/2. But, I did have to buy these in a 7. I have trouble with pain in my right foot. Arthritis? Old injury? Not sure … but these shoes caused no pain in my foot at all! And, they even seemed to help my foot with just the right support in just the right places.

Let me warn you, though. Start off wearing them for short periods of time! I was so happy and so gung-ho that I wore them the entire day while I cleaned house and did my normal daily activities (not while I exercised … more on that later!) and my calves really hurt last night!! I am talking about the sleep disturbing type pain. Ouch!

As I mentioned, I did not wear them when I went for my workout. I was a little wobbly when I first started wearing them and had visions of me eating pavement before my run was done. But, later, I researched them more and found out it is not recommended to wear them during running, only walking or low impact workouts.

For the body bug option, they have this calorie tracking fitness watch… also from Wal-Mart. Ok, I know this is not even close to a body bug, but it will work for what I want it to do … tell me how many calories I have burned.

$28.77. My future DIL, the one who told me about these great alternatives, has one! She really likes it! This will be my next reward, which I am planning for when I hit the 160’s. (Come on 160’s!)

About nonnymoose2014

I have recently retired from the healthcare field, nursing. As I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, this seemed like the perfect time to try my hand at blogging again. In the past, my success (or lack thereof) I believe hinged on my fear of revealing too much about myself. I have a desire to “put it all out there” BUT I want to do it on my own terms … anonymously! Thus came Nonny Moose.
