*Update – Since it did not rain as forecasted, we headed out last minute to go swimming. It turned out to be a beautiful day and we had a couple hours of fun exercise! But, we were famished when we left the pool and swung by subway instead of our planned lunch. More carbs were added to my day but also a lot more veggies!*

Goal: As I face the weekend, my goal is to continue keeping track on here to stay accountable and to resist my husband’s urge to have ice cream every day!

Happenings: I love to research anything related to health and well being. I have often wondered why I became a nurse and not a nutritionist or something related to that field. I once worked with a social worker who had a lot of involvement with children … removing them from homes where drugs were involved, working with the parent’s to get them back, etc. She had begun to lose a lot of weight. When we complimented her and asked THE question … you know the one … how are you doing it? She said she had realized that she was counseling these people on their addictions, yet not working on her own … food. Whether food or drugs, too much of either has the potential to kill you. I have often thought of what she said that day. Being a nurse and also counseling people on lifestyle changes, heart disease and diabetes, I was being a hypocrit. I would always try to stress that I realized how hard it was to practice what I preached but that it would benefit us both! Somehow, I guess I thought it protected my credibility to admit I also had a problem. So, the above inspiration seemed fitting! I must never let a single defeat become my final defeat in this fat war! 

Back to my research … today it has brought me to this question … Exactly how many grams of fat, carbs & protein, do I need each day? I knew a guestimate, but wanted a real answer on what to aim for. I know I will not be perfect, but just striving to be better! This is what I found by comparing several of the “experts” advice and not going high protein or low carb.

1200 calorie diet with 150g carbs, 60g protein & 40g fat.

I used this site to get my actual figures, which varied slightly from my calculations. But, I loved this site because I could compare it with what I got and it also told me a healthy weight for me, my BMI and other useful information! Let me know what you think!

    You’re doing great! That’s exactly where I started so in 3 months you could be in your 140’s too!! You so deserve it, I can’t wait until you’re writing that you’re finally past that 150 mark, that was a big one for me. Well keep up the good work. And don’t give in to your husband, he’s just trying to get out of paying you!! 🙂
