Inspiration: Yesterday, I caught a clip of the Dr Oz show which featured Carnie Wilson and her struggle with her addictions … now, attempting to lose the weight she gained during her pregnancies. There was a Dr Hollis on the show, formerly obese herself, she spoke with Carnie about getting support outside of her family and to stop making excuses. My inspiration for the day is a quote from Dr Hollis on the show … “We can always stop in the middle of a bag of anything.”

Goal: Yesterday was rainy all afternoon. So, today, my goal is to get myself and my son out of the house for some fresh air and fun exercise … that is, if it doesn’t rain!!

Happenings: Over the weekend, my husband made a deal with my son and I … lose 30 pounds and he would give us $300 each to use as we please! That’s $10 per pound! How could we say no?!?

Now, this may sound cruel of my husband to insinuate that I need to lose weight. However, this is his way to motivate me because he knows that I lost my stamina AND he knows that I want to lose weight!

But, what about my son? At 12 years (almost 13 as he would say!), he is 5’4 and 158. I consulted this online pediatric weight calculators to find out that he is approximately 34 pounds overweight. He has sprouted up so tall … going from being about up to my eyes in height to now seeing me eye to eye just since Christmas! Wow! His issue is not so much overeating, but instead he is making poor food choices (he would eat pizza every day if I let him) and lack of movement (his nose is either in a book or in a game almost all the time). He has no interest in sports and the only activity I have found that he seems to enjoy consistently is his scooter & swimming. Looks like I am going to have to get creative!

About nonnymoose2014

I have recently retired from the healthcare field, nursing. As I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, this seemed like the perfect time to try my hand at blogging again. In the past, my success (or lack thereof) I believe hinged on my fear of revealing too much about myself. I have a desire to “put it all out there” BUT I want to do it on my own terms … anonymously! Thus came Nonny Moose.
