What do you like to eat?

I find it interesting that when I am watching what I eat, I am always thinking about food. In the absence of all of those fatty, high calorie foods, I am on the quest to find healthy substitutes. Here are some of my recent discoveries.

Kroger Muesli, whole grains with raisins, dates & almonds …

I actually tried this one because it was recommended when following a GERD diet. The box boasts “Good source of fiber and 14 vitamins and minerals” and “Lowfat & Cholesterol Free Food” I expected cardboard. I got Yum!!

Nutrition facts for 2/3 cup serving

It’s not low carb. However, dates are known for their many health benefits. I intended to post some of those here but the list is much too long. So, if you are truly interested, read here.

Raisins also pack a powerful health punch. I was surprised when I read some of them … a natural fever fighter! Helps prevent tooth decay! See here!

But, let’s not leave out the almonds.

I have been eating this every morning and after a stall in my weight loss, I am thinking on a quote I read today on Complete Life Time

“if you want to keep getting the same results, then keep doing the same thing.  If you want to get different results, try something new.”

I like that quote! Now, time to change my breakfast routine up a bit and maybe only eat this a couple times a week!

Yoplait Delights

My worst time (besides weekends when the family is all home) is evenings. That’s when the sweet attack hits. I have tried to conquer this with a healthy alternative. I try to change it up every few days. My current fave is Yoplait Delights Parfait! I have only tried the Caramel Creme! And, while I am not a big fan of artificial sweeteners, this one snack fits the bill!

I am also surprised that when I am eating a healthy diet with only the occassional splurge, how good fruits and veggies taste. I have rediscovered the pear. I have not had one in a long time. Why? They are so delicious!

What do you like to eat when you are eating healthy? Remember, I said that I am always on the quest for new things to try. So, do share!!

About nonnymoose2014

I have recently retired from the healthcare field, nursing. As I try to figure out what I want to be when I grow up, this seemed like the perfect time to try my hand at blogging again. In the past, my success (or lack thereof) I believe hinged on my fear of revealing too much about myself. I have a desire to “put it all out there” BUT I want to do it on my own terms … anonymously! Thus came Nonny Moose.
