Stress and Weightloss

I often hear about people gaining weight or not losing weight due to times of stress. Even on The Biggest Loser, they have associated a stressful week to various contestants having only lost 1 or 2 pounds. I began to wonder how stress could be affecting me. After all, we are currently searching for a new place to live … downsizing. We are not only looking for the house, but we are also packing boxes, taking things to storage, getting rid of things that I had not planned to part with, etc. I came across this site to test your stess level

But what does that mean? The results stated that …

According to the Holmes & Rahe* statistical prediction model your score means a significant amount of life change and a significant susceptability (about 80% probability) to stress-related illness. However please keep in mind that there are many variables that interact on health including positive factors such as support from family, friends or work associates. If you are concerned about your stress levels then you should seek the assistance of a qualified counsellor or health practitioner.

While moving did not rank in the top 10 on most sites, there were other factors that I did not even take into account.

I think it may be time to take back up my yoga with Bob! 🙂

  1. Looks interesting, I will take that test when I get some more free time. I’m actually writing a series on my blog to living a stress free life.
    I’ve never tried yoga, but i’m told it is good for stress management.


  2. I checked out your site capturesteve. Well written! Great advice! Thanks for stopping by and commenting here on mine! I love yoga … great for stress, yes! But, also good for weightloss and toning! My boys (also your age) hated it. They said it was too girly and too slow. But, you should give it a try! You just might like it!
